Forest Hill Collegiate is located on the north side of Eglinton Avenue just west of Spadina Road. The original building was erected in 1948 by the Board of Education for the Village of Forest Hill. The school is built on the side of a hill and has tennis courts, an athletic field with a track, and a hockey arena for use of the students and the community. A total renovation of the school began in 1992 and the new building was completed in spring 1994. Forest Hill Collegiate currently has an enrolment of over nine hundred students and a teaching staff of about 55. It is a school with an undisputed reputation for academic excellence. Although most of the graduates attend university, we provide programs at all levels of study. The majority of courses are offered at the academic or university levels. Applied level courses in Grade 9 and 10 are availible according to student course requests. In addition, we offer a few college preparation and college/university preparation courses at the senior level. At FHCI there is a tradition of strong student participation and leadership. The Prefects, chosen by staff and current-year prefects, provide service and assistance to staff and students. The Student Council is composed of a Senate and House of Representatives. The Student Council executive is selected each spring for the next year following election campaigns and assemblies. Also involved in student leadership are the Athletic Council and Music Directorate. Students participate in many extra-curricular activities in the fields of drama, music and athletics. At Forest Hill, we believe in providing something for everyone. Forest Hill Collegiate has an active and supportive Student Council, which meets on a regular basis and assists in organizing special events throughout the year. All meetings begin at 7:00 PM and are usually held in the staff room on the main level of the school. Whenever possible an agenda for upcoming meetings will be posted on the school website. Items of interest may be placed on the agenda by contacting the School Council Chair through the main office.
