EQAO Mathematics Test for Students in Grade 9 Mathematics
Submitted by Aneta Costin on Fri, 06/04/2010 - 08:17
On Friday, June 11 and Monday, June 14, FHCI students in Grade 9 applied and academic mathematics classes will be writing the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) Mathematics test during their scheduled math class. Grade 9 students in Ontario have written this test for the last several years. You can get more information about the test at the EQAO website:
http://www.eqao.com/Parents/Secondary/09/09.aspx?Lang=E&gr=09
If you click on this link: http://www.eqao.com/Parents/Secondary/09/BookletsandGuides.aspx?Lang=E&gr=09&yr=09 you will be taken to a site where you can access questions and answers from previous EQAO math tests. You might wish to read through some of the questions so you will see the content and format of the test. The test has a combination of multiple choice, short answer and full solution questions.
The content of this test is based on the Grade 9 mathematics curriculum as set out by the Ministry of Education. Teachers at FHCI have been working with our students to help them practise the types of questions they will be asked on the EQAO test. FHCI teachers will be marking a portion of the test, and the results of the portion they mark will count towards some of the student's 30 end-of-course marks. Please ensure your child is present at school to participate in the EQAO test during the math period on Friday and Monday.
In October 2010, you will receive an individual report for your child, outlining your child's individual results.
Students who have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or were enrolled this year in an English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) course will be allocated extra time for the test, in accordance with the test administration directions from EQAO. You can read about the parameters of allowing extra time in the Guide for Accommodations and Special Provisions at http://www.eqao.com/pdf_e/10/Sacg_9e_2010_web.pdf
If you have any question about the test, please contact me or your child's teacher.
